Dr. Isa Sadeeq Abubakar is the Chairman, Faculty of Community Health from 2016 to date. In the Nigerian Chapter, he was the Faculty Secretary (2014 to 2016). At the College level, he is the Accreditation Officer and the immediate past Faculty Chairman. He has served the College in various committees. His tenure as the Faculty Chairman witnessed a comprehensive review of the Faculty curriculum and log books. A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Nigeria (1991),  he is a Professor of Public Health and the Director, Centre for Infectious Diseases Research of Bayero University Kano (BUK) as well as Head of Family & Reproductive Health unit at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH). He is also a Doctoral Research fellow with the University of Sheffield United Kingdom. In addition, he is the Head, Translational research unit at the Nigeria Centre for Snakebite Research & Intervention Centre and member African Snakebite Research Group.  Dr. Isa Abubakar is the National Vice Chairman II of the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria. He is also the Research Director, at The Macaulay Research Institute (a private, not-for-profit organisation concerned with researches in health and development) and a member of the Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance Nigeria. He is also a member of the International Society of Toxinologists, Fellow Royal Society of Public Health and member of the American Public Health Association. Previously, he has been the Head of Department Community Medicine BUK/AKTH, Acting Chairman MAC at AKTH, National Public Relations Officer Nigerian Infectious Diseases Society as well as National Consultant for Midwives Services Scheme (NWZ).

He is a Health systems expert whose works are mostly in the area of Reproductive Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition. With 26 years of teaching experience, he has carried out field researches/projects/consultancies in most Nigerian states and the Federal Capital territory. He has served as consultant to Governments at both State and National levels as well as a number of development partners including UN agencies, DFID and USAID-funded agencies. He is a Principal investigator in a number of commissioned researches and he has to his credits, over 120 publications mostly in reputable peer-reviewed journals. He is also an editorial consultant/adviser to a number of journals as well as a patron of a number of Organisations.
