The Schlumberger Foundation is currently accepting applications for its Faculty for the Future scholarship programme.

Funding is available for female PhD applicants or current PhD students from developing and emerging countries who are studying STEM subjects.

The scholarship provides up to $50,000 USD per annum during their studies.

The unfortunate realities of COVID 19 pandemic and the various restrictions, as well as protocols, put in place to reduce its transmission has necessitated many modifications in activities of our chapter. In order to fulfill the various sections of our constitution in-line with both the faculty and the national elections, the NOC, NEC and the BOT have met severally where they noted and resolved as follows:

NATIONAL GUIDELINES FOR CONDUCT OF RESEARCH DURING CORONAVIRUS DISEASE 2019 (COVID-19) PANDEMIC

The CHEST Foundation hosts a yearly grant cycle and would like to thank all of our applicants! We are extremely proud of the work you are doing to advance chest medicine. We would also like to congratulate all who received funding through all our previously held competitive grant cycles.

The Board of Trustees deliberated on several issues and advices as follows:

1. The Board of Trustees Account: This should be made to become operational soon after this conference with an initial deposit of funds derived from 10% of the registration fees.

2. Chapter Investments:  Funds accruing from the Development Levy (N8.85m) should be invested forthwith in treasury bills on a 6 month turn-over basis.

3. Pre-conference workshops of all faculties will hold on the 13th July, 2020.

1. SECRETARIAT

The Chapter secretariat is still located in Lagos at the old College building despite the movement of the College to another location in Thorne borne street at Yaba. The NOC has fully and comprehensively renovated as well as furnish (painting, floor tiles, curtains, furniture, computers, air-conditioner) the two offices. A new staff has also been employed and the office is now equipped with a server for large volume data storage in-line with the re-organization of the secretariat.
